Frequently asked questions

Can I use a real workplace project?

Absolutely. Whether you're creating a video for work or your own portfolio, you choose the project. It can be a story-based video or a concept-based video. It could even be a. promotional video for your own business.

How much one-on-one time do I get with Rance?

As you complete each stage of production (kick-off, script writing, storyboarding and final production), you'll schedule 30 minutes with Rance to ask questions about his feedback, discuss what needs to be re-worked and make sure you're confident going into the next stage. Most students schedule about 2 hours with Rance throughout the mentorship.

How will feedback be given?

Primarily through email and one-on-one virtual meetings. When you submit an assignment, Rance will review it and provide feedback via email. Then, you'll schedule a one-on-one to discuss his feedback and ask any additional questions. You are welcome to submit assignments at any time.

How long does it take to complete a project?

You set the schedule at the kick-off. Sometimes, schedules at work, or in life slow things down. That's okay. The mentorship is flexible. Most producers complete their projects in 2-6 months.

Do I have to take Levels 1 & 2 first?

Yes, Levels 1 & 2 are a pre-requisite for mentorship. Once you've completed all three levels, you will be uniquely equipped to handle any animated video project that gets thrown your way!
